Proposed 20mph zone for Upper Norwood

Lambeth Council is proposing a 20mph zone in part of Upper Norwood

Many residents in Gipsy Hill have contacted us about the very important issue of road safety.  There is a particular problem with speeding traffic, which makes many roads dangerous to cross and unsafe for pedestrians, especially the elderly and children.

For a long time we have been urging the council to take the problem seriously.  At last the council has listened to our concerns and is now considering the introduction of a 20mph zone in part of the Upper Norwood area within Gipsy Hill ward.

The council is due to publish consultation documents with details about the new zone and the traffic calming measures that will accompany it during the next week or so.  We understand that not all traffic calming measures are popular and therefore urge you to have your say in the consultation.  We will work with council officers to ensure that the views of all residents are taken into consideration and that road safety in the area is improved.
